Not-to-be-missed sights in the surrounding area

Between its vineyards, its old stones, its natural parks and its pretty towns containing many treasures, we propose a non-exhaustive list of visits to make in the surroundings of Les Cabottes:

1/ The Hospices de Beaune, a veritable emblem of the town (and the region) thanks to its recognisable glazed tiles, its unique architecture inspired by that of Flanders (and its appearance in the classic film La Grande Vadrouille!).
More info: https://musee.hospices-de-beaune.com/
A30-minute drive from Les Cabottes (and the road is splendid!)

2/ The Caves Patriarche in Beaune are a veritable oenological labyrinth, as they are the largest cellars in Burgundy. The tastings don’t have the charm of a small winegrower’s, but they do give you the chance to sample a wide variety of wines.
More info at: https: //www.patriarche.com/fr/
A 30-minute drive from Les Cabottes (and the road is still splendid!)

3/ La Karrière in Villars-Fontaine – the name says it all, as this former stone quarry has been converted into a venue for art, exhibitions and concerts. Like an open-air museum, a visit to la Karrière is unique and appeals to all ages.
Further information: https: //villart.fr/
40 minutes from Les Cabottes via the Route des Vins, which passes through some of the most beautiful wine-producing villages in the Côte de Nuits.

4/ Citeaux Abbey, for the architectural beauty of the site, which instantly transports you to another time, and the excellent educational guided tour. If you haven’t been there before, don’t forget to pop into the shop on your way out and take home the typical cheese made by the monks of the Abbey – we simply recommend that you ask to have it vacuum-packed 😉

A 48-minute drive from Les Cabottes

5/ Clos de Vougeot is an emblematic château in the vineyards. It’s a place of pilgrimage for all Burgundy wine lovers, with its elegant wines and splendid architecture. This is the perfect way to round off a day in the Côte de Nuits.
More info at: https: //www.closdevougeot.fr/fr/
48 minutes by car from Les Cabottes

6/ Bibracte – Mont Beuvray – Between the museum that brings this ancient Gallic oppidum back to life and the archaeological site in the heart of nature where you can wander freely, this is another emblematic place to discover the beauty and history of the Morvan Regional Nature Park.

Les Cabottes x Le Château de Pommard

Château de Pommard is well worth a visit in its own right (even though it is still under construction, this Burgundy wine institution remains open to the public), and offers a range of tastings to discover the estate’s wines, most of which are biodynamic. We recommend these tastings for red wine lovers, as this is the speciality of this prestigious Château, famous in particular for its Clos Marey Monge monopole.

Because we love helping you discover the beautiful places around Les Cabottes, we’re delighted to announce that we’ve become a partner of this prestigious establishment. And because we like to be transparent with you, we don’t take any commission, we simply benefit from preferential rates for our guests, you. Here are the different tastings on offer at Château de Pommard, which you can access by mentioning that you are coming on our behalf when you make your reservation.

1/ Discover Burgundy
The perfect tasting for a first approach to Burgundy, with 4 flagship cuvées from different appellations

2/ Clos Marey Monge – our favourite
The estate’s flagship tasting gives you the chance to discover its famous red wines both vertically and horizontally. A rarity in Burgundy, you’ll have the chance to taste the same wine in different years to see how the cuvée develops over time.

3/ Tailor-made Château de Pommard – you choose the wines you wish to taste – Although a little more expensive, this tasting offers the opportunity to taste vintages that are rarely available. A godsend for connoisseurs who want to treat themselves.

Would you like to enjoy a tasting at Château de Pommard? All you have to do is make a reservation, specifying that you are staying with us, and you will benefit from the rates below:
22.5€/person for Discover Burgundy (instead of 30€)
31€/person for Le Clos Marey Monge (instead of 41€)
70€/person for Le Sur-Mesure (privatisation) (instead of 94€)

Enjoy your visit!

An unusual weekend to discover Burgundy Franche Comté as you’ve never seen it before

An unusual weekend to discover Burgundy Franche Comté as you’ve never seen it before

Original accommodation for an unusual night out in Burgundy: why not sleep in a tiny house?

It’s small, it’s mobile and it’s all wood: the tiny house is a new kind of micro-house, firmly rooted in a minimalist trend that encourages us to (re)focus on the essentials – sleeping well and eating well to disconnect properly, that’s our leitmotiv at Les Cabottes. In short, the tiny house is not a traditional perched hut but a rather unusual cabin on wheels. After several trips across the Atlantic, where we discovered these strange dwellings, we decided to set up four of them in the heart of the Burgundy vineyards to offer our guests for an evening (or several!) a new type of tourist accommodation that combines an atypical stay in the heart of nature with top-of-the-range accommodation for an unforgettable experience. Let’s take a look at all four so that you can choose your favourite cabotte for an unusual night out in Burgundy.

La cabotte bleue: the stars under the stars for an unusual and comfortable stay

With its opening roof, the cabotte bleue is unusual accommodation with a capital “I”. For a siesta in the breeze or a night under the Milky Way, it’s up to you. At any time of year, the sunroof offers its share of little pleasures: while it’s possible to sleep under the stars all night long in summer, the coolness of winter doesn’t spoil the experience in the slightest – quite the opposite, in fact. Out in the countryside, the sky is incredible – watching the constellations snuggled up under the duvet is an experience in itself.

La cabotte jaune: the tribe’s den for ages 7 to 77

Two large double beds, a made-to-measure children’s bed that folds out from the wall, two terraces with views over the vines: our spacious yellow cabotte is the perfect family accommodation for young and old alike to enjoy an unusual weekend away. With its unusual Japanese staircase, ingenious furniture and board games, the cabotte jaune appeals to all generations. The proof is in our vinyl playlist, which is a perfect balance of artists from very different decades, including The Beatles, Louis Armstrong, Air and our favourite Quebec singer Philémon Cimon, who gives our cabins the air of a trapper’s cabin. Eclectic, we warn you!

La cabotte rouge: the mini cabin for lovers

If you’re planning a romantic break with your other half, there’s no doubt that our little red cabin is just the thing. With its bed nestling under the slopes of the cathedral roof, it’s ideal for sleeping close together and dreaming sweet dreams. This little cocoon overlooking the vineyards is the perfect place for a tête-à-tête away from the hustle and bustle of the city and everyday life, with nothing to think about. For a gourmet weekend away, you can also opt for our dinner baskets, delivered straight to your doorstep in the blink of an eye.

La cabotte verte: a very natural eco-friendly refuge

It’s a firm favourite with nature lovers looking for accommodation that reflects their values. With its dry toilets, its ecological impact is minimal for a charming, eco-responsible holiday right to the end of the line. A little anecdote: our green cabotte is Burgundian right down to its architecture, with an organic shell shape reminiscent of the famous marbled gastropod.

Unusual accommodation… and equally unusual things to do for a charming and unusual holiday

Sleeping in a tiny house is an unusual experience in itself, but at Les Cabottes we’re keen to take the change of scenery outside the walls. All you have to do is poke your nose out onto your terrace to discover it – there it is, enthroned, steaming; your private Nordic spa awaits you with its 37°C. There’s no need to wait your turn, book a time slot in advance or even splash around with strangers, as each cabotte has its own Nordic spa – perfect for a quiet midnight dip.

Relaxed after a refreshing dip in the pool, how aboutexploring Southern Burgundy by electric bike from Les Cabottes? Get on your bike and head for the vineyards or the Burgundy Canal – it’s up to you to choose your route. Between the Côte d’Or and the Saône-et-Loire, you’ll ride through the region, watching the changing landscapes unfold before your eyes as you discover the most beautiful natural sites in the Burgundy countryside.

Another idea for an unusual activity: if you’re not keen on the bicycle option but still want to discover Burgundy in an unusual way, we encourage you to leave your car in the car park and swap it for an option with authentic old-fashioned charm: a 2 CV! Accompanied by Mélanie, a Burgundian who knows a thing or two about her region, let her guide you on an unforgettable drive with your hair blowing in the wind. And if you’re more than 3 people, Mélanie has the solution, as she also offers tours in a “estafette”. If you’re a wine-lover, you can even opt for the ‘aperitif’ tour to enjoy a fine vintage wine as the sun goes down. Find out more about this favourite activity here.

Would you like to offer an unusual weekend including, for example, a night with dinner in one of our cabottes for a charming stay that’s sure to leave a lasting impression? Here’s the link to our gift box offer , which you can buy directly online by secure payment.
