Tour of the Burgundy vineyards in a 2CV

Tour of the Burgundy vineyards in a 2CV

Trade in your gleaming car for a 2CV with deliciously old-fashioned charm

Discovering Burgundy by car is a classic thanks to the magnificent wine route that passes through all the major villages and starts just a stone’s throw from Les Cabottes. But for an even more memorable experience, we strongly recommend that you leave your car in the car park andopt for a means of transport that’s off the beaten track: the 2CV.

You have two options:

Let yourself be guided by the comments of Mélanie, the driver-guide, who knows a thing or two about Burgundy’s vineyards. Madeleine de Proust when you sit down in this old 2CV, completely renovated by its owner, Mélanie will take you around and show you the winegrowers she loves. The ideal way to let yourself be carried along for the ride.

Good to know: in addition to her 2CV, Mélanie has just added a superb estafette to her fleet – perfect if you are more than 3 people, as this is the maximum capacity of the 2CV.

take the reins and drive yourself in one of the 2CVs freshly renovated by Marine and Cyril from Escapade Française, with your hair blowing in the wind, to go wherever you want and discover the vineyards in all their nooks and crannies. The perfect solution if you want to decide the itinerary and let yourself be surprised by spontaneous breaks at the turn of a pretty viewpoint or a remarkable monument.

Good to know: hire is available for a day or a weekend – you can also add treats to your trip or opt for the pack that includes an overnight stay… at Les Cabottes, of course!

Gourmet weekend in Burgundy: a gastronomic break with a twist

Gourmet weekend in Burgundy: a gastronomic break with a twist

A chef’s dinner served directly in your tiny house, chambre d’hote or gite rental near Beaune to sample the home cooking of Les Cabottes.

Trained at the Institut Paul Bocuse, Alexane is not only the owner of the restaurant, she’s also the chef. Pastries, stews and other delicacies are served from breakfast to dinner in authentic vintage wicker baskets. Alexane works closely with local producers in the vicinity of Les Cabottes, and takes great pleasure in cooking tasty seasonal produce every day into delicious dishes. The meat for the bœuf bourguignon comes from the Bazin farm, the vegetables from the Epicerie Paysanne, the flour for the homemade bread from the Cérès farm in Gevrey-Chambertin… In short, the authentic cuisine of Les Cabottes is ultra-local, proudly inspired by the culinary traditions of Burgundy with its famous stewed beef and chicken Gaston Gérard, always cooked with local produce. But it’s also an inventive cuisine that knows how to break the rules to surprise its gourmet guests and create a great culinary experience beyond the night (it seems that the vanilla pumpkin soup is a hit every winter!).

Bistro or gourmet restaurant: our favourite restaurants in the Burgundy gastronomy valley

Between the Côte-d’Or and Saône-et-Loire regions, Burgundy is undoubtedly a gourmet destination with no shortage of good restaurants and a fine representation of French gastronomy. From market cuisine (La Table du Square in Beaune, Le Soufflot in Meursault, L’Ouillette in Santenay…) to Michelin-starred restaurants (the beautiful Maison Lameloise in Chagny, Les Terrasses by the emblematic chef Jean-Michel Carrette in Tournus, Maison Doucet in Charolles, La Côte Saint-Jacques in Joigny…), there are some lovely addresses offering excellent regional cuisine to suit all tastes and budgets if you want to extend your gourmet stay outside the Cabottes.

In the heart of one of France’s most beautiful vineyards, try your hand at Burgundy wine tasting in our beautiful vaulted cellars.

Between the Côte de Beaune and the Maranges, Les Cabottes is ideally situated in the Burgundy vineyards. Keen to offer their guests the very best, Alexane & Felix have been (and still are!) touring the nearest wineries to select their favourite vintages and build up a fine wine list available on the premises or to take away. To discover them, all you have to do is follow Felix’s guide, a graduate in oenology, around a tasting of wines that give a good overview of the region’s delights and traditions. From white Chardonnay to red Pinot Noir, Crémant with its fine bubbles and even rosé for warm summer evenings, Burgundy abounds in an oenological palette that we invite you to discover through an initiatory journey in our 18th century vaulted cellar.

In short, to transform a classic Burgundy hotel stay into a truly epicurean experience, you need :

– An unusual night in Burgundy full of charm in one of our tiny house rentals

A chef’s dinner to delight you with French cuisine brought up to date and showcasing regional produce

A tasting of wines selected with passion to help you discover the nuggets of our favourite winemakers (if you don’t know the Maranges wine yet, now’s your chance!).

Food lovers beware – if this gourmet getaway appeals to you, don’t hesitate to check our next availabilities right here.

Event – Hospices de Beaune Wine Sale

Event – Hospices de Beaune Wine Sale

The not-to-be-missed event in Burgundy in November

Every year, the famous Hospices de Beaune organise a major auction of their most prestigious wines. Throughout the weekend, festivities take place throughout the town (and even in the towns around Beaune) to celebrate Burgundy wines. Numerous wine cellars open their doors to the public (which is quite rare during the rest of the year) to show off their treasures to the curious onlookers passing through, but also to the locals for whom this festival is an unmissable event. Proof of this well-established tradition is that 2023 will be the 163rd Wine Sale, no less!

What is the Hospices Wine Sale?

It is the most famous charity wine sale in the world. Every year, on the third Sunday in November, it’s time for the big auction. Amateurs, professionals, tourists: this traditional event is a highlight in Burgundy. Several crus are put up for sale under Les Halles in the heart of Beaune, including one very special one: the pièce de charité. Each year, it is sold in aid of a charity, and its price can break records. The auction of this important piece is led by one or two celebrities, often actors.

Although the sale is open to the public, it is not necessarily for everyone. The items being auctioned are whole barrels. When you know the price of a bottle of Burgundy wine, that says a lot about how much you have to spend to get one of these precious pieces 🙂

Looking for a nice pied-à-terre to attend this year’s Hospices Wine Sale?
