Visits for children & adults

or how to get the whole family interested

Burgundy has no shortage of little treasures that should pique the curiosity of all the members of the tribe. To help you find your way around, here is a short, non-exhaustive list of our favourite activities to share:

1/ The Château de Savigny-les-Beaune and its impressive and crazy collections of cars, planes, fire trucks and other historical vehicles, all in a breathtaking setting. You can also buy the estate’s wines to round off your visit.

35 minutes by car from Les Cabottes

2/ The Fallot mustard factory in Beaune to awaken your taste buds and understand how the transformation of a small seed can lead to one of the best mustards in the world. You can also stock up on piquant sweets in the shop.

25 minutes by car from Les Cabottes, about 2 hours by electric bike.

3/ The Morvan Velorail in Cordesse to discover the beauty of green Burgundy (yes, there are not only vineyards!) with its endless forest landscapes and the smell of undergrowth that tickles your nose when the wagon flies through the air. Note that the velorail can hold a maximum of 4 people – 2 pedalling and 2 sitting behind – so it’s up to you to choose the right team!

25 minutes from Les Cabottes, with the possibility of visiting the pretty town of Autun on the way

4/ The cassissium in Nuits-Saint-Georges to learn all about this small berry so present in Burgundy (in the kir, obviously, but not only). A particularly educational and interactive visit to immerse young and old alike in the world of blackcurrants. Cocktail workshops are organised every first Friday of the month (although this is more for adults than children, as you will have understood).

38 minutes by car from “Les Cabottes”

5/ The MuséoParc Alésia in Alise-Sainte-Reine because there is no better way to combine history and fun activities. Between the remains to explore, the interpretation centre to discover and the food in the themed restaurant to devour, it’s a safe bet that you’ll stay there all day. Don’t hesitate to consult the exhibition calendar.

or how to discover several winemakers in one place

Aah, how to talk about Burgundy without mentioning its vineyards… it would be a bit like a Monday in the sun, it’s something we’ll never have. Yes, the grape reigns supreme here and it’s not about to stop. It must be said that the fame of Burgundy wine is not a coincidence as there are so many little delights. Our pleasure? To visit the local winegrowers to discover their beautiful vintages. The problem? It’s quite time-consuming to go round the estates when you only have a few hours to spend there, as it must be for you. So we wanted to simplify the task by allowing you to taste the wines of several winemakers in one place, you guessed it: at Les Cabottes!

White with Chardonnay, red with Pinot Noir, Crémant with its fine bubbles and even rosé for the hot summer evenings, Burgundy abounds in an oenological palette that we invite you to discover through an initiatory journey in our 18th century vaulted cellar.

Follow the guide!
In the middle of the Hautes Côtes de Beaune and the Maranges, Felix will introduce you to 6 of his favourite wines. A very short circuit guaranteed since all the wines you will taste are produced less than 20km from Les Cabottes (and most of them are vinified directly in our little village and organic whenever possible).

The advantages of a wine tasting at Les Cabottes?

  • Educational: you benefit from the tasting advice of Felix, WSET 2 holder
  • Practical: you can discover several estates in one place (and without taking the car)
  • Economical: you can buy the wines you taste at a discounted price

How to book a tasting at Les Cabottes?

The tastings take place every day around 11am and last about 1 hour.
You can book on the spot or in advance by email or by phone (03.45.28.09.33) by specifying the number of people and the desired day.

Tasting formula at 20€/person including 6 wines and snacks to enhance the flavours of the different wines tasted

Cycling on the greenway

Cycling on the greenway

or how to walk through the vineyard in slow mode

Reserved for cyclists and pedestrians, the greenway (which is a former railway line) links Les Cabottes to Santenay and then Beaune, passing through many renowned wine-producing villages such as Meursault and Pommard. In just two pedal strokes, you will find yourself surrounded by vineyards in absolute peace and quiet, as cars are not allowed to disturb your peace of mind. Our favourite feature on the way? The absolutely splendid view of the vineyards that appears as you approach Santenay. With the Trois-Croix mountain dominating and the cabottes (n.b. the small stone houses) which point the end of their roofs at each bend, the landscape is worthy of a real postcard changing with the seasons. It is not for nothing that this cycle route is called the “Voie des Vignes”…

How to rent electric bikes at Les Cabottes?

Just send us an email by clicking here or give us a call (03.45.28.09.33) so that we can reserve one or more bikes for you for a half-day (25€) or a day (45€). Don’t be afraid of the hilly landscapes, the electric assistance is a precious ally to cover a good distance without feeling the effects.

If you would like to plan your itinerary in advance, here is some practical information on the Voie des vignes. Please note that we will also provide you with a paper map when you pick up your bike.
