The prettiest walk on the Côte de Beaune from Les Cabottes
Destination: the summit of the vines at Trois-Croix de Santenay
Accessible to Sunday walkers, this is a walk that should also appeal to more experienced walkers. After passing through the charming village of Santenay-le-haut, it’s the Church of Saint-Jean that really stands out. Quite imposing and sumptuously well restored, it seems almost unreal in the midst of the surrounding vineyards. Then, if you look up, you’ll discover the famous Three Crosses, at the foot of which the walk will take you. With refreshing undergrowth and breathtaking views over the Santenay vineyards, you can barely feel the climb before you’ve already reached the summit.
A little bonus for those with a sweet tooth: you can take a snack with you to make the most of the walk – in fact, we can make one for you on request… Our favourite spot for a picnic? Just after the 3 crosses, take the small steep path that joins the undergrowth. A large, soft meadow awaits you, with a breathtaking view, all in an Olympian calm.
If you’re a keen walker, you can extend the loop and walk all the way to Chassagne-Montrachet after climbing to the top of Mont de Sène.
