Sleep in unusual accommodation with a private spa and enjoy a breathtaking view of the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune vineyards.

A tiny house for your next holiday

There’s the chalet, the caravan, the tree house, the floating cabin… but have you heard of the cabin on wheels? Straight from North America, here’s a mini home that doesn’t fit into any box – and that’s exactly what we like about it. It’s not a caravan or a mobile home, it’s a kind of UFO in the world of unusual accommodation. Original, atypical and downright clever, this new kind of cabin won us over at first sight when we came across it on the American roads during a roadtrip 10 years ago now. Back in France, we looked around to see if there were any manufacturers with talented hands and ingenious minds in the country: bingo! It was Cahute and Optinid who built our 4 unusual accommodations. Yellow, red and green for the first, blue for the second (a specialist in tiny houses with opening roofs, no less). They’ve both thought out the interior space down to the smallest detail to make sure you have a lovely stay in Burgundy. Each cabin has its own little nooks and crannies where you can have a good time: a cosy bed in the bedroom on the mezzanine (the star of the show is the bed in the blue cabin, which can be completely uncovered!), a lounge/dining area where you can enjoy our delicious treats from morning till night, a large bathroom where you can relax after the Nordic spa… In short, we’ve designed each cabin to offer you comfort and relaxation in an unusual setting for the duration of your stay at Les Cabottes.

A private Nordic spa in each of our unusual accommodations

While the inside of the tiny house has been designed as a little nest to welcome you in the best possible conditions, we have also thought about the outside layout of the cabin so that you can enjoy the panoramic view over the vines, whatever the weather and whatever the season. Each unusual accommodation has its own private Nordic bath on the terrace: heated all year round to 37°C, the bath is at the right temperature as soon as you arrive and remains so throughout your stay, without you having to do a thing. The perfect temperature of the water, the smell of wood tannins, the view and the birdsong – the perfect recipe for an unusual night in Burgundy. The bonus? You can send us a message at any time to arrange for delivery to your room within minutes: aperitif platter, drinks… Felix is on hand every day to provide you with an unusual experience you’ll remember for a long time.

For a romantic night away, a family weekend or a week to get away from it all on your own, discover our estate and enjoy an unusual and memorable experience.

Which cabin to choose? Choose the unusual accommodation that suits you best from our 4 cabins with private spa.

We’ve designed each of our cabins as perfect little pied-à-terres for exploring Burgundy. Although they all have the same facilities, each has its own unique architecture. We invite you to take a look at the pictures to see for yourself and choose your favourite.

An unusual night’s sleep in a new kind of cabin, a private spa just for you, made-to-measure services: at Les Cabottes, enjoy a stay in the heart of nature…

Comfort

Tiny houses don’t mean little comfort – quite the opposite. Each tiny house offers ingenious details that transform it into a spacious, top-of-the-range cocoon to meet all your needs during your stay. Soft benches for reading, a mattress that’s neither too firm nor too soft for even the most sensitive backs, and soft Bonsoirs sheets for sweet dreams – in short, the perfect combo for sleeping in or lounging around all day with just one thing on your mind.

Gourmet delights

Your sleep is of course a priority for us, but so is your appetite (and your thirst!). To satisfy your taste buds, Alexane trained at the Institut Paul Bocuse and prepares delicious dishes every day. Every evening, we’ll deliver an aperitif board and gourmet baskets for your dinner straight to your accommodation , all accompanied, of course, by fine Burgundy wines (our drinks list is chauvinistic, so you won’t find any Rhône or Loire wines ;)). From breakfast to dinner, we cook everything ourselves using local, seasonal and preferably organic produce, to offer the best of Burgundy on a platter – or rather in a basket.

Disconnection

At Les Cabottes, we activate the slow life mode as soon as we take the first step into our tiny house. Take the time to read, enjoy a fine wine to the crackling sound of a Louis Armstrong or Céline Dion vinyl (our playlist is eclectic, you’ll see!) and, above all, relax in your own private Nordic bath… Just imagine: you in 37°C water, a view over the vineyards, birdsong (or rooster calls depending on the time of day), the tinkling of bells as your only time reference… And if you feel like getting out of the bath, electric bikes are waiting for you.

In short, a stay at Les Cabottes is an experience in itself, a chance to take time for yourself. Time to do nothing or time to visit Burgundy and its little treasures, it’s up to you – in each accommodation you’ll find a welcome booklet with valuable information for setting off on your adventure. We’ve designed our unusual cabins as little refuges where you can spend a night, a weekend or even a week without getting bored. Books, board games, vinyl records… The slow life in Burgundy.

A tiny house as a pied-à-terre to discover Burgundy in an original way

Discover Burgundy Franche Comte as you’ve never seen it before!

To get away from it all and enjoy the unusual holiday you’ve been dreaming of, we suggest you leave the car in the car park and discover our beautiful region by other means of transport, which are sure to give you a change of scene.

There’s nothing like a ride through the vineyards on an electric bike to get your holiday off to a slow start. You can hire bikes directly from Les Cabottes and the cycle path is just a few metres away: practical and secure, especially if you’re with children. The Voie des vignes, a former railway line that has been transformed into a path reserved for pedestrians and cyclists, takes you through the vineyards, passing through some of the most beautiful villages on the Côte, including Meursault, Pommard and, of course, Beaune. You can also branch off at Santenay to take the route that runs alongside the Canal and takes you to the banks of the Saône (once you reach Chalon sur Saône, the route runs alongside the river, which is particularly pretty). So you can stop wherever you like, have a picnic, take a siesta, visit, taste… In short, you’re as free as a bird to discover Burgundy as you like. For more information on our bike hire service, click here (hire includes helmet, anti-theft device and map of routes).

Once again, the emphasis is not on speed but on old-world charm. The picture is as bucolic as you like: your hair blowing in the wind, the 2CV speeding along the back roads of Burgundy Franche Comte, a ray of sunshine adding to the atmosphere. There are two options, depending on your plans: opt for the 2CV from Myfrenchtour with a driver who will also be your guide, so you can combine a stroll with a cultural visit, or opt for the 2CV from Escapade française without a guide, leaving you to your own devices. We’ve tested and approved both options, so you can go ahead with your eyes shut. The reviews from our guests who have tried the experience have also been rave reviews 🙂

And why not combine the two? If you’re coming to Les Cabottes over several days, hiring a bike for one day and a 2CV for the next will give you a completely different experience, even if you’re taking the same magical routes. The 2CV can also enable you to get off the beaten track and explore a little further. A day in the Morvan, for example, could be a great way to see Burgundy from a different angle. And yes, we don’t just have vineyards – the region is full of beautiful treasures, the forests with century-old trees and the splendid lakes of the Morvan being a fine example. Here, too, you’ll find landscapes that look like little Canada, so you can switch off in the blink of an eye (or rather, in a few minutes’ drive). The Jura and Yonne regions are also within easy reach of the 2CV, and Dijon is a great day trip. Leaving Les Cabottes, you’ll take the famous Route des Vins (also known as the Route des Grands Crus de Bourgogne) up the wine-growing coast to Dijon.

Ideas for unusual visits to extend the experience

The Cabottes walk in Auxey-Duresses

After the wooden cabotte as an overnight nest, you’ll discover the stone cabottes that give the project its name. And yes, in Burgundy, the cabotte is the name given to the winegrowers’ shelters that line the vineyards. Many cabottes still exist today, even if they are less frequently used, for storing tools or sheltering from bad weather. On this walk, you will discover many of them, some of which are now ruins in the middle of nowhere, but their architecture is well worth a look.

La Karrière

A former stone quarry transformed into an open-air art gallery: what an amazing place! We love the gigantic graphics in this place that looks like a circus at the end of the world. There are murals in all styles, so there’s something for everyone. La Karrière generally leaves no one indifferent, both in terms of its originality and the size of its works. When you arrive, the surprise is instantaneous – although you’d better choose a day with good weather to enjoy it to the full, especially if you’re coming with the family. It’s a very kidfriendly place, too, as the little ones can run around as they please.

Any questions? You may find the answers here:

Where is Les Cabottes?

If you take a map of Burgundy, it’s simple: we’re right in the middle! Between Côte d’Or and Saône & Loire, we’re located in the heart of Burgundy Franche Comte. Our location is ideal for visiting the region from north to south. The vineyards, of course, but also the canals, the Morvan… all just a stone’s throw from Les Cabottes. For a day trip, Dijon is around 1 hour away via the famous wine route. The Jura can also be a great destination, with a stop-off at the Arc-et-Senans saltworks, and the Yonne is also not far away and well worth exploring.

What are the differences between the different Cabottes huts?

Each unusual accommodation has the same facilities. Living room with dining area, coffee machine, kettle, mini fridge, bathroom with toilet in the accommodation, private Nordic bath… The small differences lie in their size (we have two large tiny houses, the yellow and the blue and two small ones, the red and the green) and in their architecture. Each one is unique in its appearance. Good to know: the red hut has a slightly smaller bed than the others (140x190cm) and the green hut has a dry toilet. If you’re a big person, you’d be better off in the blue or yellow hut 🙂

Do the cabins have access to a private garden?

Each cabin has its own private terrace with garden furniture and a Nordic spa. We also have our summer garden at the centre of all our little nests. This garden is at the top of our meadow – if you come down, you can visit our miniature donkeys, Rosalie and Ferdinand. A little piece of nature on your doorstep.

Is it possible to book via a platform like Greengo, Airbnb or Booking?

Yes, it’s possible – we’ve been online on a number of platforms since the project was launched to promote our Cabottes. Although we support platforms such as Greengo and WegogreenR because their philosophy is similar to ours, we still encourage you to book directly on our site. The cost of renting each accommodation will always be more favourable directly because there are no additional costs, either for you or for us.

Do you plan to develop Les Cabottes in other regions of France?

Many of you often ask us if we are part of a chain or if we have other “Cabottes” in the country. It’s flattering! But it’s not in our plans. Our project is rooted in Burgundy and we have no desire to turn our baby into a multinational. And the good thing about Burgundy is that it’s a real crossroads for all the regions of France. Whether you’re from Paris, the Rhône or the Loire, we’re just a few hours’ drive away. And as Burgundy Franche Comte is full of wonderful discoveries, you’ll be able to come and see us several times without getting bored, that’s a promise 🙂

Is it possible to have a family stay in one of your accommodations?

Absolutely yes, we have designed each accommodation to meet the desires, needs and profiles of all our guests. If you’re looking for a family weekend at Les Cabottes, our yellow cabotte is perfect for you. With its two double beds and a cot, it can accommodate a family of 5 without any worries. Of all our unusual cabins, the yellow one is the most spacious, so you can spend quality time with your whole family without being on top of each other. Note that it is also possible to organise a family weekend in the rooms of our guest house, as we can gladly prepare umbrella beds on request. Our two upstairs bedrooms are on the same landing and can therefore be rented together to make two communicating rooms. Our gîte is also ideal for a family stay, as it has two bedrooms.

Do you have a gift voucher to offer a stay in one of your tiny houses?

We offer a range of tailor-made gift vouchers. You can offer a single night, a weekend or a package with the options of your choice to enhance the night. The lucky recipient of the gift can then choose the date on which he or she would like to stay from our booking schedule. If the person you wish to spoil isn’t too keen on the unusual, you can also offer a gift voucher for a night in one of our guest rooms. We do not offer gift vouchers for a stay in our gîte, but if you would like to, please contact us directly so that we can work out a solution together. Please note: all our accommodation has the same interior facilities, but only the cabins have a Nordic bath. The rooms in the guest house and the gîte do not (yet) have a Nordic bath. To find out about all our gift vouchers, click here.

And because your words are worth more than our long speeches, we’ve included just a few of the latest reviews left by our guests following their stay at Les Cabottes.

Amazing place with a spectacular view 🍇. We loved our stay at Les Cabottes. The owners manage it with lots of love and care and you can see this in every detail. We were traveling with a baby and it was ideal to have the dinner and breakfast available as a service. We also loved the cheese platter with good wine. Make sure you walk around in the area. A hidden gem!
