In the car Simone

or how to swap your car for a 2CV

Discovering Burgundy by car is a classic thanks to the magnificent wine route which crosses all the great villages and which starts just a stone’s throw from Les Cabottes. But for an even more memorable experience, we strongly recommend that you leave your car in the car park and opt for a means of transport that is off the beaten track: the 2CV.

To do this, you have two options:

  • let yourself be guided by the comments of the driver-guide Mélanie who knows a lot about the Burgundy vineyards. Madeleine de Proust, when you sit down in this old 2CV entirely renovated by its owner, Mélanie will take you for a walk and take you to the winegrowers she likes. The ideal solution to let yourself be carried along for the ride.

Good to know: in addition to her 2CV, Mélanie has just added a superb estafette to her fleet – perfect if you are more than 3 people as this is the maximum capacity of the 2CV
  • take the reins and drive yourself in one of the 2CV’s freshly renovated by Marine and Cyril from Escapade Française, hair in the wind, to go wherever you want and discover the vineyard in its every corner. The perfect solution if you want to decide on the itinerary and let yourself be surprised by spontaneous breaks at a pretty viewpoint or a remarkable monument.

Good to know: you can rent a car for a day or a weekend – it is also possible to add some delicacies to your trip or to opt for the package including an overnight stay… at Les Cabottes of course!

or how to get the whole family interested

Burgundy has no shortage of little treasures that should pique the curiosity of all the members of the tribe. To help you find your way around, here is a short, non-exhaustive list of our favourite activities to share:

1/ The Château de Savigny-les-Beaune and its impressive and crazy collections of cars, planes, fire trucks and other historical vehicles, all in a breathtaking setting. You can also buy the estate’s wines to round off your visit.

2/ The Fallot mustard factory in Beaune to awaken your taste buds and understand how the transformation of a small seed can lead to one of the best mustards in the world. You can also stock up on piquant sweets in the shop.

25 minutes by car from Les Cabottes, about 2 hours by electric bike.

3/ The Morvan Velorail in Cordesse to discover the beauty of green Burgundy (yes, there are not only vineyards!) with its endless forest landscapes and the smell of undergrowth that tickles your nose when the wagon flies through the air. Note that the velorail can hold a maximum of 4 people – 2 pedalling and 2 sitting behind – so it’s up to you to choose the right team!

25 minutes from Les Cabottes, with the possibility of visiting the pretty town of Autun on the way

4/ The cassissium in Nuits-Saint-Georges to learn all about this small berry so present in Burgundy (in the kir, obviously, but not only). A particularly educational and interactive visit to immerse young and old alike in the world of blackcurrants. Cocktail workshops are organised every first Friday of the month (although this is more for adults than children, as you will have understood).

5/ The MuséoParc Alésia in Alise-Sainte-Reine because there is no better way to combine history and fun activities. Between the remains to explore, the interpretation centre to discover and the food in the themed restaurant to devour, it’s a safe bet that you’ll stay there all day. Don’t hesitate to consult the exhibition calendar.
