The tiny house: the new trendy home

The tiny house: the new trendy home

The origins and development of the tiny house

The tiny house, also known as the micro-house, is an architectural innovation that originated in the United States. Its origins date back to the 1970s, when movements such as organic architecture and minimalism began to influence designers and builders. The tiny house was originally a response to the growing need for affordable, environmentally-friendly housing. It was seen as a sustainable alternative to traditional houses, offering people the chance to live in smaller but functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces. The concept was popularised by authors such as Lloyd Kahn and Jay Shafer, who shared their experiences of living in tiny houses and inspired many tiny house enthusiasts around the world.

In 2005, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, tiny houses were conceived as an emergency rehousing solution, and eventually spread well beyond the disaster zone.

Over time, the tiny house movement has grown in popularity and spread to many countries, including France. People began to recognise the benefits of living in smaller spaces, such as reduced construction and maintenance costs, a smaller ecological footprint and simpler living. The tiny house has become a symbol of freedom and minimalism, offering an attractive alternative to over-consumption and excessive urbanisation.

The unforgettable experience of renting a tiny house

The use of tiny houses as tourist accommodation has opened up new horizons for travellers looking for unusual and sustainable experiences. These travellers are increasingly attracted to tiny house rentals, which offer them a unique experience in harmony with nature.

Renting a tiny house offers a unique and memorable experience for travellers looking for something extraordinary. These well-designed tiny houses are often equipped in innovative ways, optimising every available square centimetre of space. The interiors are carefully designed to offer both functionality and aesthetics, creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere.

In this context, the rental of high-end tiny houses has developed, highlighting the principles of sustainability and offering a high level of comfort to travellers. Often located in magnificent natural environments, tiny houses offer an immersive experience, allowing guests to recharge their batteries while adopting a more environmentally-friendly lifestyle.

Discovering the vineyards and canals by electric bike

What better way to explore our beautiful region than by electric bike? In slow life mode, take the greenway 100m from Les Cabottes and then cycle through the most beautiful wine-producing villages in the area, such as Santenay, Meursault and Pommard (all without having to take the usual route, as the greenway takes you from Change to Beaune, which is very practical!) And what’s even more practical is that you can hire electric bikes directly from us, by the half-day (morning or afternoon) or by the day. When you pick up your bikes, we’ll give you a map of the surrounding area so you can plan your route, and we’ll point out the pretty spots you don’t want to miss. You can ride through vineyards, along canals or stop off at Meursault in the footsteps of La Grande Vadrouille.
