Hire an electric bike near Beaune to discover the Route des Grands Crus and explore the vineyards
Discover Burgundy’s vineyards in slow mode
Reserved for cyclists and pedestrians, the cycle route links Les Cabottes to Santenay and then Beaune, passing through a number of renowned wine-producing villages such as Meursault, Pommard, Puligny and Chassagne-Montrachet. A former railway line, the aptly named Voie des Vignes is an ideal way to discover the vineyards in the gentlest of ways. In just two pedal strokes, you’ll find yourself surrounded by vineyards in absolute peace and quiet, with no cars allowed to disturb your peace. Our favourite part of the route? The absolutely splendid view of the vineyards as you approach Santenay. With the Trois-Croix mountain towering above you and the cabottes (n.b. the little stone houses) poking out their roofs at every turn, the landscape is worthy of a real postcard, changing with the seasons.
The different routes to discover Beaune and the surrounding area by electric bike from Les Cabottes
Our little village of Change is located directly on the cycle path, which is really handy! This is the first exit after the village of Nolay as you head towards Santenay. Once you arrive in Santenay, you have two choices:
– Continue towards the town of Beaune, passing through some of the region’s most famous crus, such as Montrachet, Bâtard and Pommard.
– Fork off to join the greenway that runs alongside the Burgundy Canal – you can head off in the direction of Chagny and Chalon-sur-Saône, or follow the Dheune valley.
So which route will you choose?
Good to know: when you borrow electric bikes from Les Cabottes, we provide you with a map showing the various possible cycle routes so that you can find your way around easily.
Nice stops along the way: Beaune, Meursault, Pommard…
The advantage of cycling is that you can take your time. You can admire the scenery as it passes before your eyes, take a picnic break along the cycle route or opt for a restaurant lunch – there are plenty of good places to eat along the way. You can also take the opportunity to go wine-tasting at an estate (such as Domaine Mestre in Santenay or Château de Pommard, which offers tastings in several languages) or take in a cultural visit. If you fancy interspersing your bike ride with a walk, we’ve listed a number of walking routes on Komoot right here.

I reserve a bike hire near Santenay, Beaune and Meursault
- Electric bike hire Change (21340), a stone’s throw from the Santenay-Beaune cycle path
- Price: €25/half-day (morning until 1pm or afternoon from 1.30pm); €45/day
Do you have any questions? The answer may lie here:
We are in the centre of Change (21340), a small village between Nolay and Santenay located 30 minutes south of Beaune (we are on the border between the Côte d’Or and the Saône et Loire). To get to us from Beaune, take the famous Route des Grands Crus, a splendid route. Our location is ideal for discovering Burgundy by bike, with its vineyards and canals. Some routes combine both.
The road between Santenay and Beaune is a single lane, so the outward and return journeys take the same route. So even if you pass through the same villages, you’ll see the scenery from a completely different angle depending on which way you go. Don’t hesitate to take short detours to discover charming villages that are slightly off the main route, such as Saint-Romain or Saint-Aubin.
Leaving in the morning at around 8/9am, you can drive as far as Nuits-Saint-Georges, or even as far as Dijon for the bravest. You can take the opportunity to visit the Château du Clos Vougeot or the Abbaye de Citeaux. You can then return via the cycle route or take the train to Chagny for a loop. Heading towards the town of Nolay, you can also explore the famous Bout du Monde at Cormot, whose limestone cliffs and waterfall are well known for rock climbing.
Absolutely, anything is possible. If you stay with us, you can rent at any time – before, during or after your stay.
Absolutely, even if we love to hire you beautiful electric frames, our core business is the hotel business. We offer 3 types of accommodation: tiny houses for the unusual side, gites and character rooms for the more traditional side (but still spiced up with a “cabotte” sauce :)). Whether you’re coming from the local area or further afield, we’ll be delighted to let you stay with us for a night, two nights or even a week. This will also give you the chance to explore the various cycle routes in the area and make the most of it. Our heart sways between the vineyards and the canal, so this way you can try out both!
Near Les Cabottes, you’ll find the Château de Couches, the Château de Pommard and the Château de Savigny, which will surprise young and old alike with its unusual collections.
Discover our hotel to extend your bike hire into an immersive stay in the heart of Burgundy’s vineyards.

Amazing place with a spectacular view 🍇. We loved our stay at Les Cabottes. The owners manage it with lots of love and care and you can see this in every detail. We were traveling with a baby and it was ideal to have the dinner and breakfast available as a service. We also loved the cheese platter with good wine. Make sure you walk around in the area. A hidden gem!
