An unusual tiny house for sleeping under the stars

A tiny house immersed in nature for the perfect adventure

Your cabin in detail

1 mezzanine bedroom – 1 cot on request – 2 adults & 1 baby – 1 bathroom with separate toilet – 1 lounge – 1 private Nordic spa

La cabotte bleue is the most original tiny house on our estate, a bit like our own little star. The wow factor is guaranteed when the sunroof slides open to reveal the surrounding countryside and the splendid view over the village vineyards. It’s the perfect idyllic setting for snuggling up with your other half, watching the stars (often shooting!) and the many constellations from the warmth of the duvet.

On the ground floor, La cabotte bleue hasa lovely cocooning lounge area that invites you to relax, with Louis Armstrong on vinyl in the background. The dining area can easily be folded away to make the most of the space during the day. On the same level, the bathroom also offers plenty of space, with its large shower and separate toilet.

Where you will sleep in the accommodation

1 MEZZANINE BEDROOM
Double bed 160x2000cm

The Queen-size bed is located on the first floor and can be accessed via a staircase (a classic staircase).

How does a tiny house with an opening roof work?

All you have to do to access the bed, and therefore the roof, is climb up to the mezzanine via the special staircase. It opens manually. Very easy to use, you can open it as you like with a simple gesture and adjust the opening. If you’d like a gentle breeze to tickle your face, you can leave it ajar, or if you’d rather have your hair blowing in the wind and be immersed in nature, you can open it all the way to reveal the bed completely: in short, it’s up to you. Worried about getting cold? As well as the duvet on the bed, you’ll find a warm blanket on the mezzanine floor of the tiny house to warm your heart – a unique experience to spend the night under the stars with all the comfort of a nice, cosy bed, a great gift to give (to yourself) to celebrate an event or simply to have a good time.

As we’re located in a small village, nature is close at hand (and especially close at hand!), so you can go for a walk, a morning run or a day’s hike without having to get back in the car.

Do you have any questions? The answers may lie here:

How do check-in and check-out work for each accommodation rental?

Arrivals are between 4pm and 8pm, departures until 11am. There are no key boxes, but we do our utmost to provide you with a personalised welcome to explain how the tiny house works and answer any questions you may have, so that you have a pleasant stay in our establishment.

What are the cancellation conditions? Do you offer free cancellation?

If you wish to cancel your stay with us, you can do so free of charge if you give us more than one week’s notice. After this time, 50% of the total cost of your stay will be deducted (excluding tourist tax). Please note that no refund will be made if you cancel your stay less than 2 days before the scheduled arrival date. These conditions apply to all our accommodation (tiny house, gîte and chambres d’hôtes).

How do the rules work?

We take a bank imprint as a guarantee at the time of booking, but it is not debited. Payment is then made on site at checkout by credit card, cash, cheque or holiday voucher.

Is the Nordic spa accessible all year round?

Each cabin has its own private Nordic spa. This means you can enjoy your bath throughout your stay, whenever you like. The Nordic baths can be used all year round – they are heated to 37°C in winter and slightly less in summer to keep them cool for your comfort. All have a splendid view of the surrounding vineyards and forests, as our little village is in the middle of the Burgundy countryside.

Is there a kitchen in the cottage?

We have chosen not to include kitchens in our self-catering cottages in order to provide more space for the other areas (bathroom, living room), which are used more for short stays. As gastronomy is an integral part of our project, we can, on request, bring our home-cooked meals directly to your cabin at any time of day: breakfast in the morning, picnics for lunch and gourmet baskets for dinner. If you would like to have a kitchen in your accommodation, we invite you to rent our gîte, which is a fully-equipped detached house.

What to do around Les Cabottes?

At Les Cabottes, disconnection is king. The first thing to do… is to do nothing 🙂 Reading, playing board games, relaxing in the Nordic bath… And if you feel like discovering our beautiful region, you can go for a ride through the forest and vineyards or get on one of our electric bikes (bikes can be hired directly from Les Cabottes) or go for a walk or hike without having to take the car. You can find a number of ideas for activities byclicking here, and many suggestions have also been included in the welcome booklet in each accommodation. In short, everything you need to discover every corner of Burgundy Franche Comte!
And if you fancy a tasting session to discover Burgundy wines, you can join the one we organise every day at 11am in our vaulted cellars, or pay a visit to Domaine Mestre in Santenay or Domaine Chevrot in Cheilly-les-Maranges. If you opt for the first option, Felix will be delighted to introduce you to 6 of his favourite wines, sourced from winemakers in the area around Les Cabottes: Saint-Romain, Santenay, Saint-Aubin, Chassagne… the wines tasted change from month to month.

Is it possible to bring a dog?

No, it’s not possible to bring a dog to your unusual rental, even if your dog is very small, very clean and well-behaved – its little claws mark the wood on the floor. However, we do accept them in our gîte, which is more suitable for them, with its private enclosed courtyard at the back of the house.

Where is the Domaine des Cabottes?

Our tiny houses hotel is located in the charming wine-growing village of Change, between the Côte de Beaune and the Maranges, and is the perfect place for a pleasant overnight stopover on the way to your holiday destination, or for exploring and discovering the region. Take advantage of this location along the Grands Crus tourist route to discover the vineyards, the Burgundy Canal and the superb Parc du Morvan, just a few dozen kilometres away, a veritable jewel case of greenery dotted with lakes, each more beautiful than the last, as well as original sporting activities such as rafting. Situated between the Côte d’Or and the Saône et Loire, our location is perfect for discovering the many facets of Burgundy Franche Comte.

Here are a few not-to-be-missed tourist attractions to get you started:
– Guided tour of the Hospices Civils de Beaune
– Discover the “voie verte” by electric bike (bikes can be hired on site), which takes in both the vineyards and the canals of southern Burgundy.
– Explore Bibracte and Mont Beuvray in the Morvan Natural Park

Is a deposit required to rent the tiny house?

The terms and conditions for renting our tiny houses are exactly the same as those for our gîte or chambres d’hôtes: there is no deposit or guarantee. Only a bank imprint is taken at the time of booking as a guarantee, but this is not debited: payment for the stay is made on site at the time of departure.

Cabane, tiny house, what’s the difference?

Unusual accommodation par excellence, cabins, tiny houses and trailers are springing up all over France. In a nutshell, a tiny house is simply a cabin on wheels. The tiny house looks like a wooden caravan. In North America, it is used as such by people who travel with their shell. It’s a truly unusual experience to come across one on the road in a national park!

Where does the tiny house come from?

The tiny house comes straight from North America. Originally, the tiny house was developed to house residents following Hurricane Katrina. Although it initially had a social purpose, the tiny house went on to become a more widespread form of housing, thanks to its unusual character and its practicality, with an ultra-optimised interior. A fervent ambassador of minimalism, the tiny house is the perfect habitat for travelling (it’s common to see them on American roads). Little-known in France, the tiny house has finally arrived en masse in our country, as many individuals and professionals have decided to adopt it as their home or as an unusual tourist rental, just like us 🙂 At Les Cabottes, you can discover the red tiny house, which sleeps 2 adults, the green tiny house, which also sleeps 2 adults, the yellow tiny house, which is the largest (2 adults, 2 children, 1 baby) and the blue tiny house with its opening roof (2 adults, 1 baby).

Is the loft bed easily accessible?

All our unusual tiny houses have a mezzanine bed. The blue cabotte has the easiest access to the mezzanine because it has a classic staircase. The yellow and green cabotte have a Japanese staircase and the red cabotte has a ladder. If you’d like to opt for unusual accommodation when you visit us, but are prone to vertigo, choose the blue cabotte over the other tiny houses.

Are you planning to set up elsewhere in the country?

The Cabottes project is above all a project on a human scale. We take pleasure in building it, developing it and adding new accommodation and activities, but we have no plans to expand beyond our native Burgundy. The advantage of Burgundy is that it’s central in France: whether you’re coming from Paris, the Rhône or Normandy, you can be with us in just a few hours’ drive. And in the wider sense, Burgundy France Comte is well worth a visit, you can trust us 🙂

Are you on any platforms?

We are present on several platforms. Firstly to publicise the project, and secondly to support the launch and development of great platforms such as Greengo and Abracadaroom, which promote the idea of eco-responsible tourism, an idea with which we inevitably identify. It’s worth noting that charges are always applied to this type of platform, and this is quite normal for their operation, so prices will always be lower if you book directly through our site. We also offer discounted rates from 3 nights upwards if you want to make the most of your stay and turn your overnight stay into a weekend or even a holiday 🙂

How many spa accommodations do you offer for rent?

At the moment, we offer 4 accommodations with a private Nordic spa: the red cabotte, the green cabotte, the yellow cabotte and the blue cabotte. We’re currently thinking about offering a Nordic spa for our other accommodation. Stay tuned 🙂

Is it possible to come for just one night?

It is perfectly possible to stay with us for one night. The only exceptions are for our gîte (stays are for a minimum of 2 nights all year round) and for the cabottes in summer (in July and August, stays are for a minimum of 2 nights). The guest rooms can be booked for a single night all year round to give you greater flexibility.

Is it possible to bring more than 2 adults?

Each tiny house has a maximum capacity of 2 adults. The blue cottage can accommodate an extra baby and the yellow cottage, our family tiny house, can accommodate 2 adults as well as 2 children and a baby. It is not possible to bring 3 or 4 adults, even in the yellow tiny house, as the equipment is not designed for this. The interior space would be too small and the Nordic spa cannot accommodate 3 or 4 adults. If you would like accommodation for more than 2 adults, we invite you to book additional accommodation or our gîte, which can accommodate 4 adults. It is also possible to combine unusual accommodation with a room in our guest house.

Is it possible to offer a gift voucher to sleep in a tiny house?

It’s perfectly possible to give the gift of a night in a tiny house for a truly unusual holiday. You can find all our gift vouchers by clicking here.

Amazing place with a spectacular view 🍇. We loved our stay at Les Cabottes. The owners manage it with lots of love and care and you can see this in every detail. We were traveling with a baby and it was ideal to have the dinner and breakfast available as a service. We also loved the cheese platter with good wine. Make sure you walk around in the area. A hidden gem!
