Tiny house rental

They have the charm of doll’s houses, with their ingenious bespoke design , and the comfort of a nice hotel, with their top-of-the-range facilities and private Nordic spa overlooking the vines: our 4 tiny houses are little havens of peace, perfect for a cocooning stay in the heart of Burgundy’s countryside. An atypical cabin par excellence, the tiny house is an instant change of scenery. Its original architecture, its wonderfully comforting smell of wood (similar to that of a mountain chalet…) and all its ingenious little details…

You’re probably familiar with tree houses, floating dwellings and troglodyte accommodation, so we thought we’d surprise you with a new kind of cabin. A recent arrival in France, the tiny house is a wooden micro-house that knows how to surprise its guests. Renting a tiny house allows you to discover a new habitat and a new way of life. Minimalist, eco-responsible and, above all, very comfortable, these little nests offer a unique, top-of-the-range hotel experience as close to nature as possible.

Comfort

Tiny houses don’t mean little comfort – quite the opposite. Each tiny house available to rent is packed with ingenious details that transform it into a spacious, top-of-the-range cocoon to meet all your needs during your stay. Soft benches for reading, a mattress that’s neither too firm nor too soft for even the most sensitive backs, and soft Bonsoir sheets – in short, the perfect combo for sleeping in or lounging around all day.

Gourmet delights

Your sleep is of course a priority for us, but so is your appetite (and your thirst!). To satisfy your taste buds, Alexane trained at the Institut Paul Bocuse to prepare delicious dishes every day. Every evening, we’ll deliver an aperitif board and gourmet baskets for your dinner straight to your tiny house, accompanied, of course, by a selection of fine Burgundy wines. From breakfast to dinner, we cook everything ourselves using local, seasonal and preferably organic produce.

Disconnection

At Les Cabottes, the slow life mode is activated as soon as you take the tiny house plunge. For a night, a weekend or a week, take this suspended time as a gift to yourself to take the time to read, enjoy a fine wine to the crackling sound of a Louis Armstrong or Céline Dion vinyl (our playlist is eclectic, you’ll see!) and, above all, relax in your private Nordic spa... Just imagine: you in 37°C water, a view over the vineyards, birdsong (or the rooster depending on the time of day), the tinkling of bells as your only time reference… And if you feel like getting out of the bath, Rosalie and Ferdinand, our two miniature donkeys, are waiting for you in our meadow below the summer garden. Electric bikes are also available for exploring the surrounding countryside.

The advantages of our small houses

Each cabin has :

  • its own Nordic bath heated to 37°C with direct, unlimited access
  • an outdoor terrace of around 15 square metres
  • a breathtaking view of the Hautes Côtes de Beaune vineyards
  • a large bathroom equipped with Vinésime local soaps
  • top-of-the-range bedding and household linen
  • lots of goodies (vinyl, books, board games, etc.)

For a moment out of time, enjoy unlimited access to your Nordic spa overlooking the Burgundy vineyards.

Heated over a wood fire to 37°C, this large barrel-shaped hot tub is the ideal place to think of nothing but yourself. The gentle warmth of the water is perfect for soothing your aching muscles, the distinctive scent of tannins transports you a thousand miles away from your everyday life, and what can we say about the comfortable benches where you can sit facing the vines in complete relaxation, watching the sun set, all to the sound of a good sizzling vinyl.

Good to know:

  • The Nordic spa is heated to an average of 37°C and remains at that temperature without you having to do a thing.
  • The Nordic spa operates all year round – we heat the water a little less in summer to keep it refreshing for you.
  • If you rent a tiny house, you’ll have your own Nordic spa on your terrace with a unique view of the Burgundy vineyards: the Nordic spa is accessible throughout your stay, with no need to book in advance.

Let’s get to know each other

What is a tiny house hotel in Burgundy?

Les Cabottes is…

The first tiny house hotel in France! Our idea is to set up wooden micro-houses facing the vineyards, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, so that our guests can get away from it all and enjoy a truly exotic holiday. What’s on the agenda? Read that book you’ve been eyeing for the last 6 months over a glass of good wine (Burgundy, of course), pedal along the greenway that runs just a stone’s throw from Les Cabottes, or simply relax in your own private Nordic bath , gazing out over the soothing vines that line the hillside opposite.

Tiny houses?

We discovered this hut on wheels a few years ago during a trip to the United States. At first, we were charmed by their truly adorable exterior, but when we set foot inside these new-style cabins, we couldn’t believe our eyes. It’s simple: the design of this type of dwelling overflows with ingenuity to optimise space, transforming the doll’s house into a spacious cocoon. Finally, the tiny house has the childlike spirit of a hut that invites you to daydream, while having the comfort and luxury of a real home. In fact, sleeping in a tiny house is an experience in itself, allowing you to discover a new, minimalist way of life, but also a new, innovative construction method – the unique architecture of the tiny house differs greatly from the classic house we all know, and that’s where its charm lies. The tiny house is a one-of-a-kind dwelling, purpose-built to accommodate the number of travellers who will occupy it for a night, a weekend or a week’s holiday.

When the tiny house becomes a cottage…

Mini house, small house, maisonette… in our country, the tiny house becomes a “cabotte”! And to build these cosy little nests in which you’ll be staying, we’ve chosen to work with two local builders who also use only sustainable, French materials: Cahute (Brittany) and Optinid (Ain). Chauvinists to the core, our tiny houses are made from Burgundy pine and poplar, and the paint is natural (with ochres that also come from… Burgundy, you guessed it).

An ideal geographical location in the heart of Burgundy

Discover the region from every angle

If you’re looking to rent a tiny house in and around Beaune, you’ve come to the right place. Whether you’re looking for a night away from it all, a week away from it all, or simply a stopover on the way to your holiday destination (Burgundy is an ideal crossroads, wherever you are in the country), you’ll find the door to our little cabins wide open. We’re located in the small wine-growing village of Change, between the Hautes Côtes and the Maranges. You can discover the vineyards by leaving your car at the car park, as the greenway reserved for pedestrians and cyclists passes directly through our village, or take a stroll along the banks of the Cozanne. Two pedal strokes and you’re in Santenay, Meursault, Pommard, Saint-Aubin… the Grands Crus pass before your eyes, a splendid sight at any time of year, with a special mention for autumn. That’s when the leaves of the vines take on their beautiful golden hues (which is how the Côte D’Or department got its name). You can also choose to cycle along the Canal de Bourgogne, an itinerary that we love. From Santenay, you have the choice of continuing on the Voie des vignes to Beaune or branching off to take the Voie verte along the Canal. And if you want to explore the region, you have the option of going to Dijon (about an hour’s drive away via the incredible Route des Vins) and even to the Morvan to discover one of France’s most beautiful nature parks, full of lovely treasures (those lakes, those lakes…).

What to do when you come to Les Cabottes

Whether you’re an epicurean at heart, a Sunday sportsman or a seasoned sportswoman, or if you simply feel like doing nothing at all, you should find what you’re looking for with us.
– If you like wine and oenology, we organise tastings every day at 11am in our vaulted cellars.
– If you’d like to discover the vineyards in slow-lifestyle mode, you can hop on an electric bike for half a day or a whole day, as we hire bikes directly from Les Cabottes, so you can take advantage of the greenway that runs just a stone’s throw away (it’s reserved for pedestrians and cyclists).
– If you’re more of a walker or hiker, we’ve cleared the prettiest paths in the area so you can choose your favourite itinerary to suit your tastes.
– If you’d like to discover Burgundy’s beautiful heritage, its places steeped in history but also its atypical landmarks to discover the region from a new angle, we’ve listed our favourite visits to do in the area around Les Cabottes .
– If you simply want to pamper yourself, the Nordic bath will be your best friend – thanks to our discreet but ever-present service, you can alsoorder treats and drinks to be delivered directly to where you want them (in your bath, in your cabotte…).

Spa weekend in Burgundy

Do you have any questions? The answer may lie here:

Do you offer other accommodation in addition to tiny houses?

Absolutely, we offer several types of accommodation for short-term rental. There are 4 tiny houses, for the unusual accommodation section, as well as 3 guest rooms in the oldest house in the village and a gîte in a renovated farmhouse.

What is the minimum length of stay?

To guarantee your comfort and flexibility, we offer one-night stays all year round in our character rooms and cabottes. The exceptions? A minimum 2-night stay in our gîte all year round and in July/August if you opt for a cabane. On average, stays are 2 nights in all our accommodation, so you can make the most of the place and the surrounding area.

Where do you operate in France?

From our somewhat chauvinistic remarks, you’ve probably already gathered that we love our beautiful region, aka Burgundy. For the moment, we have no plans to develop the project in other parts of the country. The Pyrenees, the Loire, Morbihan, the Rhône, New Aquitaine or even Brittany or the Alps… there are plenty of places in France where we could set up shop, but it’s not in the pipeline. For the moment, we’re taking infinite pleasure in developing the initial project. In addition to the gîte and the 3 chambres d’hôtes, 3 new rooms are being built to extend the guest house.

How can I make a reservation?

If we are present on certain platforms that share our eco-responsible philosophy and are helping to publicise our project (such as Greengo or WegogreenR), if you are reading these lines, then you are already in the right place to book directly 🙂 So even though we support the approach of platforms like Greengo, booking directly on our site is commission-free and therefore guaranteed to give you the best rates for all types of accommodation (tiny houses, gites and B&Bs).

What makes the cabottes different?

While they all have the same facilities (starting with their private Nordic bath), each has its own aesthetic particularities. Their size differs (there are the big yellow and blue tiny houses and the small red and green tiny houses) to adapt to the number of travellers. The red tiny house has the smallest bed and the green tiny house has a dry toilet.

Did you build the cabottes yourself?

To each his own: we may be hoteliers, but we’re not joiners 🙂 We managed the construction with the Cahute workshop in Brittany for the red, green and yellow tiny, and Optinid in the Ain for the blue. However, we renovated the gîte ourselves 🙂

Where is the Domaine des Cabottes?

We’re right in the heart of wine-growing Burgundy, ideally situated between the Paris region, the Rhône and Switzerland. In short, we’re less than 2 hours from Lyon and Geneva and 3 hours from Paris. By train, it’s even possible to get from Les Cabottes to Paris in 2 hours door-to-door by taking the TGV at Le Creusot-Montchanin station. We are in a small village in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune, between forest and vineyards.

Amazing place with a spectacular view 🍇. We loved our stay at Les Cabottes. The owners manage it with lots of love and care and you can see this in every detail. We were traveling with a baby and it was ideal to have the dinner and breakfast available as a service. We also loved the cheese platter with good wine. Make sure you walk around in the area. A hidden gem!
